Kent, Maidstone, Bluebell Short Break Unit

Bluebells is a four bedded short break unit which offers overnight residential opportunities for disabled children from 5 to 19 years of age. Our aim is to provide a nurturing and stimulating environment for every child which promotes their physical and emotional well-being within appropriate boundaries. Working in an 'Outstanding' Children's Home (Ofsted 2017) we are seeking a motivated Registered Manager to work in partnership with Kent Community Healthcare Trust to lead the service whilst sharing our commitment to improving outcomes for children. You will be responsible for the day to day management of the home including staff rotas, staff training and development, finance, and all health and safety matters. You will also be responsible for ensuring that the unit operates in line with the Children's Homes Regulations 2015 and Ofsted's Social Care Common Inspection Framework. Working closely with parents, social workers, and other professionals, you will be responsible for ensuring that all statutory requirements relating to childcare practice and safeguarding are adhered to, and the home promotes the welfare, wellbeing and safety of each individual child. You will need to hold or be working towards the 'Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health, Social Care and children and young people's services' and have experience of working with children with disabilities. In return, you will be provided with a rolling programme of specialist training and be offered regular supervision to enable you to confidently progress in your career.

All care staff are at least 18 years old, and staff who are given sole responsibility for children or a management role are at least 21 years old. Within this requirement no person works in a children's home unless they are at least four years older than the oldest child accommodated. Our children's homes accommodate children up to the age of 18 years, therefore, we can only accept applications from persons 22 years or older. Interviews will be conducted under the 'Choosing with care' assessment process.
