Role Overview We are currently recruiting for a Site Accountant to join one of our contracts. The ideal candidate will provide a professional service covering all aspects of finance. Reporting to the Contract Accountant, this is a key role, liaising daily with the local management and to meet Wincanton and customer financial and statistical reporting requirements: Key Responsibilities Responsible for the management and control of the finance function Production of weekly and monthly management accounts for Wincanton and the customer to required timescales Working closely with the Contract Accountant you will drive Wincanton contribution through savings against flex budget, operational performance and a culture of continuous improvement Work alongside Site Operational Teams to develop strong commercial awareness and an understanding of the budget and flex mechanisms Production of weekly forecasts, through close liaison with all operational and support departments Cost variance analysis and reporting, including supporting narrative, for financial and non-financial managers Control of balance sheet ensuring reconciliations are timely and accurate Preparation of period reviews and to attend internal and customer meetings as required Compilation of annual customer and Wincanton budgets as well as periodic forecast during the year Ensuring internal controls and procedures are in place and are compiled with in line with the Wincanton Finance Manual and Customer audit requirements Responsible for Finance team training and development and to motivate and manage within a team based management culture Experience and Qualifications Be able to demonstrate previous relevant experience A fully qualified accountant (CIMA, ACA, ACCA), or QBE Previous experience in a warehouse/distribution environment would be advantageous Demonstrate drive, energy and a commitment to the continuous improvement of overall contract performance Be inquisitive with a passion for challenging teams to drive performance Be able to work under pressure whilst maintaining high standards Must be flexible and respond positively and accurately to internal and external customer requests Excellent customer relationship skills with the ability to develop good working relationships at all levels Have excellent PC skills and be able to understand and harness IT and systems to benefit the operation Proven leadership and management skills Confidentiality and discretion are essential About Us It is an exciting time to join us…Wincanton is a leading Third Party Logistics (3PL) firm, providing supply chain consultancy and solutions to some of the world’s most admired brands in the UK and Ireland.
