Smiths Medical UK is seeking a Financial Accountant to join the company on a permanent basis. The role will be responsible for financial accounting activities with respect to several countries in the EMEA. This is a great opportunity to leading global medical devices company (part of a FTSE100 group of companies), with a good base grounding in all areas of finance. Duties and Responsibilities: This position is responsible for all financial accounting activities with respect to one or several countries of Smiths Medical's EMEA region; Maintains all associated general ledger accounts within the associated sets of books, including recording necessary journals and preparing account reconciliations; Interfaces with other Finance and business functions, such as Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Tax, to ensure sets of books are complete and accurate; Supports the company's outsourced partner in preparing statutory accounting reports for the associated countries, including support for any associated audits; Completes monthly financial reporting routines as a part of the financial closing process, including review and communication of the associated financial statements, along with consolidating these statements into the Smiths Group and Smiths Medical global reporting tools/processes; Ensures inter-company activity is timely and accurately accounted for, including preparing invoices as necessary, reconciling the associated accounts, confirming balances with other affiliates, and maintaining compliance with Smiths Medical's Transfer Pricing Policy; Ensures all activities are undertaken with a clear audit trail which can be made available on request; Pro-actively improving and undertaking effective business relationship with key interfaces. Required Skills and Experience: Previous experience in a similar role, dealing with reconciliations, general ledger accounts, etc.; Ideally part-qualified and university degree is an asset; Good Excel skills (vlookups, pivot tables, etc.) and overall MS Office skills; Previous experience with ERP systems (Oracle / etc.) - an asset; Internal / external audit experience - highly advantageous; Methodical and organised work practices; Customer service orientation, with strong communication skills both written and oral; Drive to ensure duties are completed to given deadlines.
