Prototype Designer | Competitive Salary | Outskirts of Ipswich

Prototype Designer needed, paying competitively for a talented person to take the reins of this small design company's prototype section, based on the outskirts of Ipswich.

Terrific opportunity to join an innovative and growing manufacturing company and become a key member of the design team. Using all the experience that you've gained, ideally within a creative production setting, you will manage a variety of projects from the initial design through to successful build of the prototype.

Working closely with the Directors and reporting to the Production Manager, you will be involved in the building of prototypes from CAD drawings which will be sent to the customer for approval of design and concept.

Working predominantly in the warehouse area, duties will include:

- Using the in-house machinery to create a high-quality finished prototype
- Designing, editing and creating toolpaths
- Attending regular meetings and communicate verbally with internal teams with details of the projects
- To actively listen to feedback in order to document and make changes to the prototype
- To provide regular updates on how the prototype is proceeding
- Assisting the Machining Supervisor in their workload should they require
- To deal with multiple projects and track progress of each one
- Minimise unnecessary risks and inform the Project Manager of any H&S considerations
- Complete detailed paperwork for interpretation by the CAD Technician and Project Manager

Essential experience includes:

- CNC programming/operating and fully conversant with CAD/CAM software
- CNC machining with 3-axis
- Knowledge of production & manufacturing processes
- Designing and editing drawings
- Experience of operating hand and power tools
- Ability to analyse drawings and problem solving
- Ability to accurately measure

Although not essential, any knowledge of plastic/acrylic fabrication or experience working with a Milticam machine or with EnRoute software will be very useful.

The company is growing, nurtures its employees and ensures the team has some of the most sophisticated equipment available in the industry. Creatively, the business is building an outstanding reputation, taking the first glimmer of a design concept and transforming it into reality for a wide variety of instantly recognisable and global brands.
